General Amusement

I’m sorry for the delay between posts. I was on vacation. It was nice to get away for a few days and unwind. But of course I came back with some great stories and pictures – as if I’d ever take a break from complaining…
Anyway, we had an out-of-town wedding, added a few days onto the back end of the trip and went to Idlewild in Pennsylvania. It’s a sister park of Kennywood. And I have to admit, it was so nice to go somewhere where the lines weren’t outrageous, the employees were nice and the environment was family-oriented. – things most amusement parks can’t accomplish these days.
However, in the same breath, an amusement park is an amusement park – so there’s always good people-watching to be done. And in this case, there were some pictures to be taken.
Wild Mouse – This classic roller coaster is always a crowd-pleaser – unless it breaks down. There were two kids stuck in this car for quite a while.
Smoking Areas – Most of the park was smoke-free, although there were people smoking in non-approved areas. But anyway, note the apparent princess wearing a crown in this picture.
Ringmaster – I’m always on the lookout for guys with mullets, strange hair and/or funny t-shirts. This guy met some of the qualifications obviously.
Preoccupied Mom – I often comment about “kids having kids.” Now, I’m not putting you down if your mom gave birth when she was younger or if you did. I’m more so talking about the issue in our society where kids think they need to have sex; they get stupid and end up getting pregnant. This girl was very young! And I actually felt bad for her as she tried to manage two strollers and the baby by herself. Note her “baby mama” shorts though.
What are some of your amusement park complaints?

I’m glad you had some time off, Marvin.
We have Six Flags here and it used to be reasonably nice. Now, it’s way too crowded and not near as clean as it used to be.
Children on leashes… Need I say more.
That line that puts you to the front of the ride..
It has been years since I’ve been to an amusement park. I just have a hard time paying close to $50/ticket, I am cheap that way.
P.S. I’m not sure why Reforming Geek is calling me “Marvin” by the way. If it’s a joke, it went over my head. LOL.
Oh, dear. The Baby Mama shorts would annoy me!
whenever I go to Aqua Parks I get amazed at how people dress. If you’re 50 lbs overweight and own not one but three muffin tops stay away from tank tops that don’t cover your belly button. Geez!
Thanks first of all for stopping by my blog today! Secondly, thanks for the laughs! People watching is the best! You should see our state fair! YIKES! I kind of think instead of stuffed animals for prizes they should be giving away full length mirrors. And lets remember people… tighter isn’t always better….
I usually count the number of mullets I see at the amusement park. One day, I will be among those numbers.
Rachael
Outrageous prices.
FIFTEEN DOLLARS FOR A LARGE DRINK?! WTF?!! IS IT MADE OF GOLD? DO LITTLE ELVES MAKE IT? WHY!!!
Cedar Point Hires Foreigners (No offense)
This can cause MAJOR communication problems when explaining safety procedures & other things people may need to know. My brother was pissed at one girl once. He started yelling at her as we got off the ride. He was trying to be all bad ass with his cell phone out and she stopped the ride until he put it away. Lol… Lol …. Looool… She was telling him in broken English that it wasn’t allowed on the ride.
While that’s a stupid/funny story, it really could cause problems with safety!
Love vacations!
Soooooooo my big complaint on parks.
I think it is having to see people wear inappropriate clothes at a family oriented place.
COme on ppl we all get hot, but I don’t show up with my ass cheeks hanging out or my boobs spilling out of my top.
Freakin spare us, there are children here who don’t need to see that kinda shit.
: )
THanks for stopping by.
Glad you were able to get some time off. Good shots.
“Children on leashes… Need I say more.”
– I disagree with that. I dislike those things.
Oh boy, take your camera down to South Beach next time, you could get two or three posts worth of material!
funny how we both did posts on amusement rides at the same time!
My kids are too old for Idlewild now, but it is a great family park. I second that pet peeve TallElf! Pet children irk me every time I see them!
I can’t remember a time when I have gone to Idlewild and the Wild Mouse did not get stuck. You would think that after all these years, they would have fixed that problem.
Thanks for the laugh. Amusement parks are the WalMarts of the entertainment industry. I should go to one just for the blog material. Glad you had a nice getaway!
I don’t know if its more “amusing” in the amusement parks or the local Wal-Mart, same type of folks keep showing up and kids on leashes are really bad news.
