Wrong Place Wrong Time

Unfortunately, bad things happen in life.  But that doesn’t make them any easier to understand when they do.  And no matter which media outlet is reporting it, it’s hard not to see or hear about a story that upsets you.  That reason alone is why my wife doesn’t watch the 11 o’clock news.

But even with all the bad, hate, lawsuits, violence and garbage going on in society, the one thing that still curdles my stomach is someone simply being the in the wrong place at the wrong time.  In my mind, that’s the worst.  And I’m wondering if Gwen Wright is an example of that.

Police have been looking for Gwen since last Wednesday.  She is a married third-shift nurse from Wellington, OH (30 minutes west of Cleveland).  Her husband was on his way to work last Wednesday when they spoke at 10:05 p.m.  She told him that she was going to Wal-Mart to rent a Red Box movie and pick up some batteries for a dog collar.  Surveillance cameras showed her entering Wal-Mart at 11:39 p.m.  She rented the movie and left at 11:48 p.m.  She then put the movie in her car, re-entered the store, used the restroom, got a drink and left again.  She pulled out of the parking lot at 11:54 p.m.  But she never made it home.  She was next seen at an ATM machine 70 miles away.  She withdrew $500.  She was never seen again.  Her car was found today (Tuesday) near Cincinnati (several hours from where she lived).

Now, what’s interesting is that the police have gone on record as saying that nobody entered her car while she was parked at Wal-Mart and they are also pretty sure that nobody was in the car when she pulled up to the ATM.  Additionally, she left home without her diabetic medication and all of her personal items were found still in the car.  Something just doesn’t add up.  Why was she 70 miles away using an ATM machine at 1:37 a.m.?  That in itself is not safe.  And what happened between 11:54 p.m. and 1:37 a.m.?  Was she followed?  Did she pull over to help someone?  Or did she simply want to leave her current life and disappear?  Let’s hope that she is found soon!  You can follow updates on the Facebook page that has been set up to help find Gwen.
