Craig and His List

I have never used craigslist.  Not for any particular reason - I just haven’t.  Admittedly, I’ve visited the site twice - both times because friends were showing me ads they had placed.  To be honest, I thought the site was confusing.

As I’m sure you’ve heard; craigslist has recently come under fire for everything from not [...]

He’s How Old

I’ve written several posts in the past about my dislike for smoking.  My mother smoked while she was pregnant with me.  As a result, I was born two months early.  And I’ve despised smoking since I was old enough to know what happened.

However, I realize people are still going to do it, so as long [...]

On the Front Lines

Yesterday at lunch, I overheard an interesting conversation.  Two ladies were talking about a local news story (a 22-year-old mother whose 3-year-old son died while attempting to climb a bookcase in their house).  This was part of their conversation:

Lady One: “She is a baby killer.”
Lady Two: “I know.  All baby killers need to die.”
Lady One: [...]

Riddle Me This

OK, this isn’t a riddle, but I’ve always wanted to use that line to title a post.  Instead, I’ll make a statement that could also be read as a question.

We can put a man on the moon but we cannot stop an oil leak?  Come on, BP.  Or maybe I should say, “Come on, someone.”  [...]

One Classy Girl

I realize it’s not fair to take one situation and use it to stereotype all teenagers.  But here is a classic example of why some of the leaders of tomorrow scare me.  We’ve all made mistakes, but some people go a little overboard…

Ladies and Gentlemen, allow me to introduce Jessica Halter from Lorain County, OH.  The [...]

My city recently received a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.  As a result, the city advertised that residents could apply for free monies under this program to use towards weatherization.

One of the parameters under which you could apply for money was to use it to buy a new energy-efficient furnace.  That caught my [...]

No Chance

Depending on how long you’ve been reading this blog, you’ve probably seen me make the following comment at least once: Some kids truly never have a chance because of their parents.  And I mean - never have a chance to succeed.  I think that’s a fair and very true comment.  Just look around, people watch [...]

Cell Phone Shots – Volume XI

Today I’m featuring two very different cell phone pictures.  But both are equally frustrating to me.

I’m not specifically picking on Wal-Mart in this post, but they’re just the example I’m using.  Why do some retail stores have 25 check-out aisles, but none of them are ever open?  This is the case at my local Wal-Mart.  [...]

No Bones About It

Actor David Boreanaz is the latest celebrity to be accused of infidelity.  You might know Boreanaz from the popular TV show “Bones.”  He is also married to actress Jaime Bergman.

First there was Tiger Woods, then Jesse James and now David Boreanaz.  But do you want to know the kicker?  One of David’s alleged mistresses is Rachel [...]

Not So Happy Meal

For years I’ve had a funny saying about California.  It basically goes something like this: If it’s strange legislation, it probably originated in CA.  Today’s topic is a perfect example.

My friend Jen (from Hope Studios) and I were discussing an article, and as parents, both of us had strong opinions about it.  The Los Angeles Times featured [...]
